Fragments of Harm: The impact of human greed
Environmental issues are far from unknown to us; we have been studying, learning about, and hearing about them for as long as we can remember. We are not unaware of the billion trees cut down and the death of million animals due to plastic litter and loss of habitat. Despite these alarming statistics, why haven't we seen significant changes? Over time, these numbers start to feel like just that—numbers. We lose sight of the real-life impact they represent.
It's probably because it's not us accumulating tons of plastic in our tummy, inching closer to a painful death each day. Instead, it's happening to hundreds of thousands of animals from various species. We have no idea about the agony of being trapped in plastic, unable to move, suffocating to death—but that's the reality for countless fish who perish because of the plastic we discard. While you enjoy the comfort of a secure home, many animals lose their habitats due to relentless exploitation.
So here's a gentle but vital reminder that each statistic represents a life cut short due to our greed and refusal to adopt better practices. The numbers continue to rise because we prioritize our comfort above all else. Even a small effort on our part can make a difference. If Just 5% of your effort could help save the lives of the voiceless wouldn't you do it? It's high time everyone becomes the change that the world needs, not just because you want to but also because it's your responsibility to do so.
